กราบเรียนเพื่อนพ้องกัลยาณมิตรที่รักเคารพอีกครั้งหนึ่ง
วันนี้เป็นวันจันทร์ที่ 3 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2551 ซึ่งผลการเลือกตั้ง สว. กรุงเทพมหานคร  อย่างไม่เป็นทางการได้ออกมาแล้วว่า เหรียญทอง ได้แก่  คุณพี่รสนา โตสิตระกูล หมายเลข 5 ด้วยคะแนนท่วมท้น  ตามมาห่างๆ ด้วยเหรียญเงิน คือ ผม นายนิติพงษ์ ห่อนาค หมายเลข 29 และเหรียญทองแดงคือ คุณอนุสรณ์ ธรรมใจ หมายเลข 6
น่าเสียดายหน่อยตรงที่ว่า นี่ไม่ใช่กีฬาโอลิมปิก เขาไม่แจกเหรียญเงินและเหรียญทองแดง  เขาแจกแค่เหรียญทองเท่านั้น  และเหรียญทองเหรียญนี้ เป็นเหรียญที่น่าภูมิใจแทน  พี่รสนา แต่ก็เป็นเหรียญที่หนักไม่น้อยเมื่อได้คล้องคอ  เพราะฉะนั้น นอกจากจะต้องแสดง   ความยินดีกับพี่รสนาแล้ว  ก็ขอให้กำลังใจในการแบกรับภาระยิ่งใหญ่ที่ได้รับมอบหมายจากชาวกรุงเทพมหานครให้ได้อย่างราบรื่น
น่าเสียดายอีกข้อหนึ่งคือ ชาว กทม.ไปออกเสียงเลือกตั้งกันเพียง 40 เปอร์เซนต์  ซึ่งอาจเกิดจากความเบื่อหน่ายการเมือง   และไม่เข้าใจอำนาจหน้าที่ของ  สว.  ว่าเป็นตัวแทนที่แท้จริงของประชาชน   ผู้บังคับบัญชาของ สว. คือประชาชน ซึ่งแตกต่างกันกับ สส.   เพราะ สส. นั้น  ถึงแม้จะมาจากเสียงของประชาชน  แต่ผู้บังคับบัญชาของ สส. กลับกลายเป็นหัวหน้าพรรค กรรมการพรรค หรือมติพรรค  หาได้มีอิสระเสรีเท่า สว.ไม่
17   วันเต็มที่ผมเดินลงพื้นที่   ตั้งแต่เช้ามืดจรดค่ำ  เพื่อแจกบัตรแนะนำตัวตามชุมชนต่าง ๆ  ทั่วกรุงเทพฯ   ตามเรี่ยวแรงและเวลาที่จะทำได้   สิ่งที่ได้มา คือ การปวดขา ปวดหลัง ปวดเอว เหน็ดเหนื่อย แต่ที่ได้กลับมา คือ ใบหน้ายิ้มแย้ม คำพูดให้กำลังใจ  จับไม้จับมือ  ซึ่งยากจะบรรยายได้ว่า  ทำให้หัวใจพองโตได้เพียงไร ทำให้มีแรงเดินได้ตลอด จนจบแผนอย่างที่ไม่คิดว่าชาตินี้จะทำตัวแบบนี้ได้  ทำให้เข้าใจว่า “นักเลือกตั้ง” เขารู้สึกกันอย่างนี้นี่เอง
222,634 คะแนน (ยังไม่รวมคะแนนเลือกตั้งล่วงหน้า)  ที่ผมได้รับจากพี่น้องชาว  กทม.  เป็นคะแนน Hand Made  เป็นคะแนนจากเครือข่ายญาติมิตร ที่ใช้ระบบปากต่อปาก เพื่อนของเพื่อนของเพื่อน ที่ให้เกียรติผมโดยที่ไม่รู้จักกันเป็นการส่วนตัว แต่มีน้ำใจช่วยเหลือ รวมทั้งพี่น้องที่ไม่เคยพบปะกัน แต่เชื่อมั่นและไว้ใจในตัวผม เหล่านี้เป็นคะแนนที่มากมายนัก   สำหรับเด็กหลังห้องและหน้าใหม่สำหรับการเมือง  ถือเป็นสิริมงคลแก่ตัวผมอย่างที่ผมนึกไม่ถึง  จะกราบขอบพระคุณเท่าใด จะไปกราบที่ไหน ก็คงกราบไม่หมด จึงหวังเพียงแต่ว่า การกราบขอบพระคุณด้วยจดหมายฉบับนี้จะไปได้ทั่วถึงเท่าที่จะเป็นไปได้
จากนี้ไป ผมก็เป็นนักแต่งเพลงอย่างเดิม มีชีวิตครอบครัวปกติ แต่ในบทบาททางการเมือง คงทำอะไรไม่ได้มากนัก   เพราะทางสายตรงเพื่อไปสู่การเป็นปากเสียงของพวกเราชาวไทยรักสงบในสภานั้น มีเพียง สส. กับ สว.เท่านั้น แต่ผมก็พร้อมที่จะทำต่อไปด้วยวิถีของราษฎรคนหนึ่ง
ราษฎรคนหนึ่งที่มีคนลงคะแนนเสียงให้สองแสนกว่าคน ไม่อาจจะละเลยความไว้ใจ และความหวังที่จะเป็นที่พึ่งของทุกท่านได้ ผมไม่อาจรับปากว่าผมจะแก้ไขปัญหา  หรือข้อสงสัย  ของทุกท่านได้  เพราะผมไม่มีอำนาจหน้าที่อะไรทางการเมือง   แต่ผมยินดีจะรับฟังทุกปัญหา  และจะพยายามทำเท่าที่จะทำได้ ที่จะแก้ไขปัญหาของผู้ที่ให้เกียรติลงคะแนนให้ผมทั้งสองแสนกว่าคนนั้น เท่าที่กำลังราษฎรอย่างผมจะทำได้
